Ancient Miniatures

Post by MTierney » Sat Oct 28, 2017 10:48 am

We have a gentleman from Cleveland who has offered to bring his Roman miniatures battle this year. It is very large, could accommodate up to 14 players. It is 28mm scale with 14 Romans to a cohort and 20 barbarians to a group. It would be on a 6'x25' table with 1500 figures!

Joe would be there the first weekend, setting up and playing a game Friday night the 16th, and another Saturday morning around 10am. Looking for interested players. I think this would be a great addition to Winterfest. Please sign up for one or both of the sessions.

If this is the setup I saw about a year ago, it's awesome. I'd sign up and play at least one session, even though I've never been a miniatures guy.

I could give that a try for a "small" game

I would play the Friday night game. The monster games don't generally start until Saturday, when all the players are on-hand.

You may have seen my event at NOWScon or one of our minicons. I also run events at Cold Wars, Historicon, and Fall-In. People want to push figures, roll dice, and have fun not listen to me for 5 hours on how my rules apply to this battle. I designed the rules, a heavily modified Classical Hack, to be easy to learn, that before the middle of the game you will be doing the moves and combat on you own. Emphasis is on playability, not my supervising every move, combat, and morale check. As gamemaster, I am here to facilitate you having fun and honest mistakes just get played through. My events are not only great to look at but fun to play even if you lose.

Joe,
Remind me how many tables do you need?
