Flattop double-blind

Post by ThisLee » Sun Jul 23, 2017 1:46 am

I'm going to open the planning early this time around. If no one wants to play game-master, I will take my turn in the hot seat.

I think it worked OK last year to have one big map for the GM, and plotting maps only for the players. Or did we try something else?

Thoughts, opinions?

I'm in, either for GM, assistant GM, or victim/player

I've got a lot of things set up for me to referee this year, I will keep working on them.

It so happens that I picked up a copy of this at BGF. I would be interested, time permitting.

I hope there is room for me in this game. I was game master for a PBEM game that just finished last weekend. We did the Short 18 turn version of Scenario 2, the Battle of The Coral Sea and it ended with the sinking of the Lexington. Not interested in doing the GM role (I'm exhausted) but sure would love to be a player.

Our game had 5 players : US Shipping and Sea-Based Air, and Land Air Based Air Commanders vs IJ Shipping, Sea Based Air, and Land Based Air Commanders. We used an impulse-based movement system to regulate movement at any time within the hourly turns; thus the APs had one impulse of movement (at the 30 minute impulse) vs for example a Zero had 10 impulses in a hourly turn. I made all die rolls and reported combat resolution and search results and weather encounter observations back to the players involved each impulse, based on player turn orders. Players could also alter orders during the turn after receiving these impulse results; e.g. to change course to investigate a Condition 1 (something out there) report.

I'm writing up an AAR and will bring copies whether there is room for me or not.

Dave

I shall certainly try to make room for another.

I've experimented with impulse movement in a PBEM game, didn't like it. For this game, I intend to stick to the hourly turns.

No commitment? Kind of sounds like you already have all positions spoken for. Or do you mean that you will see if you can squeeze me in? If so, let me know the outcome in time for me to find another game, if needed.

Thanks Lee

Hi Dave,

Please know that you are perfectly welcome to join our game if you don't get a firm response/commitment from Lee.

Sorry, I meant that I had no positions taken at all, I should have said, "I can certainly set a place for another." In the past, we've not had formal pre-signups, and I didn't intend to have any this year. It's much more informal than that.

In the past, we've only played one day or one night, I could easily run two sittings of it, should there be an overwhelming response.
