Early Straw Poll - What Should We Do?

Post by DaveM1 » Fri Aug 29, 2014 12:05 pm

So far it seems there's a lot more talk about what we DON'T want to play, and not a lot of agreement about what we DO want to play. So I thought I'd see if there's any general idea about the direction folks think we should go. Take a quick minute to log your opinion!

Dave,

I tried voting and it says my vote is invalid after submitting it. Can you check to see that your poll is setup right. I re-checked your user permissions and added you as a standard user + polls. You may want to re-do this and delete the old thread for the poll if it doesn't work.

Let me know and I'll try to figure it out.

I'm going to revise my selection for the simple reason that this group prefers WW2.

I suggest 'The Devil's Cauldron'/'Where Eagles Dare' for the sheer fun and reasonable simplicity the game system affords. That and I know this game system has yet to be played at WW and this would make it a new entry for the con.

BTW Dave, I actually hadn't seen your post before my changes! :)

I had the same results. I'll see about recreating and move from there.

John, I made a new poll and tried manipulating as many options as I could. Still got the "invalid" response. From what I can see, the setup fit parameters. Not sure what to try next?

SO following Tom's example:

If forced to vote, I'd probably go for the Market Garden pair of games, adding up to a Monster.

Second choices? Atlantic Wall, or something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT....like a Civil War game, WW3, Ancient.

My vote(s): in order

1. Battle for Normandy (2 sets)
2a. Third World War <----- I'd consider this a side game, with 4+ players
2b. Operation Market Garden (Grand Tactical Series)
3. A Civil War game (None But Heroes or Last Chance for Victory have been suggested?) <--- would like to try a scenario as a side game
4. The Killing Ground/Overlord

99: Atlantic Wall
999: East Front Series

I could not get the poll to work either.

My vote is Civil War. An interesting era with lots of challenges.

Well, as previously demonstrated by myself, I can easily swing both ways between Civil War and WWII.

Both of Essig's systems, CWB or LoB offer games which move along at a very good clip regardless of experience, and great challenges, all with great flavor and command struggles of the period. In difference, it rather comes down to whether you prefer to fight to take Cemetery Hill or fight to take Richmond.

The poll seems to be working. It took my vote, and tallied it. Looks like the situation has been resolved. Recommend all of the posters here go back and cast their vote again.
